## A card is a conversation

The inbox collects what happened on the items you are involved in. Each card is one **conversation** on one item, not one notification. When somebody replies to a comment you were also notified about, both notifications land on the same card.

Inside a card, the unread mark sits on the **comment line**, not on the card as a whole. A conversation with three new replies shows three marks.

## Filtering and clearing

The inbox has two tabs, **All** and **Unread**, with the unread count beside **Unread**. **Mark all read** clears every unread mark at once.

You clear a mark yourself, and scrolling never clears one for you. You can clear a single comment line. When more than one line in a conversation is unread, you can also clear the whole thread at once.

## Why you were notified

Two things put a conversation in your inbox.

| Reason | What it means |
|---|---|
| A comment on an item you watch | Ambient: you are following the item |
| A comment that names you | Addressed to you |

You can follow an item by adding yourself to its **Watchers** field, and stop by taking yourself off.

Being named emails you by default. A comment on a watched item does not send an email. You can change both settings under **Settings → Notifications**.
