Why was my request refused?
Teamhood tells you in plain words when you do not have permission for an action. Two forms of refusal are less obvious:
- A control that is missing rather than greyed out.
- A settings page that is not in the list.
Find the cell to ask about
Section titled “Find the cell to ask about”A rule on one field beats a rule on its type, and a rule on a type beats the general items setting. A denial anywhere wins.
- Open Settings → Organization → Roles. Open in Teamhood
- Find your role’s column, and use the search box to find the row by name.
- Comments, attachments, time tracking, views, users, fields and types are rows under General.
- For work on items, look under Item types. Expand the type if the refusal was about one field.
If you cannot open that page yourself, an administrator can read it to you.
What to ask for
Section titled “What to ask for”Name the row and the value you need, not the symptom. For example: “On Settings → Roles, set the Issue row to Read & write for Reader.”
Things no role can grant
Section titled “Things no role can grant”A few actions need a true administrator as well as the permission. Ask an administrator to do these actions for you:
- Deleting a member.
- Resetting someone’s two-factor authentication.
- Managing roles themselves.
When it is not a permission at all
Section titled “When it is not a permission at all”- A view you cannot find. Views have their own audience, separate from roles. See Who can see a view.
- Everything refused, with a message about the subscription. The organization has lapsed and is closed until it is renewed. See What happens when a subscription lapses.
