What is a field?
What a field is
Section titled “What a field is”A field is one thing an item can hold: a due date, an estimate, an owner, a status, a checkbox. Fields are defined once in Settings → Organization → Fields and shared by the whole organization.
A field has a title and a type. The type decides what kind of value the field holds.
Which types carry a field
Section titled “Which types carry a field”The Applies to column decides which item types carry the field.
- Name one type, and only that type carries the field.
- Name several types, and all of them carry the field.
- Leave the column empty, and every type carries the field.
Groups and select options
Section titled “Groups and select options”A field can name a group. Groups section the item page, the filter picker and the board’s field list.
Each option of a select field can be scoped to particular types. A type that stars its own option opens on that option. Every other type falls back to the option marked for all types.
Deleting a field
Section titled “Deleting a field”If any item has a value set for the field, Teamhood asks you to type the field’s title to confirm.
Deleting a field hides the field from every item, view and picker. The values stay on the items, and Ctrl-Z brings the field and its values back together.
